There are planets to consider, and boy, do they have a big impact on not only your birth chart but also what’s going on in astrology right now. These planets establish aspects with one another, constantly challenging, supporting, and frustrating one another while also generating new energy. The conjunction, the trine, the square, the sextile, and the opposition are some of the more well-known aspects. But that’s just scratching the surface; have you ever heard of an astrological phenomenon known as a quincunx?
This strange-sounding word refers to an aspect of the sky that may appear inconsequential, but is actually responsible for a lot of the awkwardness that exists there. But, before we get into the implications, let’s define what it is. A quincunx, which is also known as a “inconjunct,” occurs when two planets in the zodiac form a 150-degree angle (or are five signs apart from each other).
Understanding the definition of a quincunx begins with the word “inconjunct.” After all, the word “inconjunct” is literally the antonym of the word “conjunct,” because in astrology, one planet is conjunct another when they’re in the same zodiac sign and in the same degree. Because they both emanate energy in the same zodiac sign, these two planets are merging their energies and effectively forming one gigantic super planet. So, when two planets (or zodiac signs) are inconjunct, where do we go from there?

In astrology, the inconjunct or quincunx (the words are interchangeable) aspect is created when two planets are around 150 degrees apart. The planets or points in issue can be anywhere between 148 and 152 degrees distant if we utilize a 2 degree orb.

Is inconjunct the same as semi sextile?
The semi-sextile is the lovely, courteous youngster who goes unnoticed until we find out who’s been putting soap in the cat food and flushing Aunt Bessie’s jewels down the toilet. And, if you conceive of the zodiac in terms of a voyage, each 30 degree mark represents a little but significant stride ahead. This is similar to how the semi-sextile works. It knows where it’s going, but it doesn’t let you know until you’ve arrived. You’re merely along on the ride, which is usually a pleasant one. The transcendence of the three (12 = 1 + 2) is carried down by the semi-sextile. However, we can only overcome the intrinsic tension between the two planets if we first perceive the semi-sextile.

This is all connected to the Piscean aspect of the dividing side of the semi-sextile. But what about the application, Taurus? Semi-sextiles can take us to some surprising locations because we don’t know where they’re coming from. This is the conflict between the acquisitive Taurus and the impulsive Aries, who both want to know what they have and where they’re going. The Taurus semi-sextile signifies the fight to cling on in the face of the need to move on, as well as the struggle to manifest what has previously only been a promise and intuition. This is the inconjuncts’ manifesting talent, the ability to create from both conscious and unconscious intention. The distinction between the two is that we may recognize the tensions between the two planets with quincunxes, but not with semi-sextiles. Semi-sextiles can run roughshod over us at times, and we may have no idea what’s going on.
In secondary progressions, the inconjuncts produce magic, as I’ve already indicated. If we know what to look for in the natal chart, they might be just as useful. A planet that is inconjunct both ends of the Nodes, in particular, signifies a powerful energy that must be recognized, purified, and utilised to increase life and conscious consciousness. Planet Earth is on a soul-mission that cannot and will not be overlooked. There is no guarantee of success because the aspect is an inconjunct. In order to correctly employ the energy, we must become our own Watchers, conscious that there is a larger plan for us that is partially beyond our control.
When the semi-sextile is to the South Node, it can signify gifts that must be used in this lifetime. Queen Elizabeth has a first house Mars aspecting her Capricorn South Node; David Frost, the British broadcaster, with a 10th house Mercury semi-sextile the South Node. It can also signify issues that will eventually surface in order to be addressed.
How can I tell if I have Yod or not?
In astrology, a Yod is a unique configuration of at least three planets. It has the appearance of a tall, thin triangular.
An equilateral triangle formed by two planets in sextile (60 degrees) to one other, with both of them producing an uncomfortable 150-degree quincunx (or inconjunct) angle to a third planet is known as a Yod aspect pattern.

Both of these planets, however, are five signs away (quincunx) from the planet at the Yod’s apex. The quincunx planet is in a zodiac sign that creates an uneasy energy of friction and adjustment, disrupting the sextile planets’ ease of movement.
