“The term “transits” in astrology refers to the planets’ present-day motion, as opposed to their locations at your birth or at other significant moments in your life. Transits reflect our shared reality, the world we are all living in together, because they are tied to the present. The way we play the cards we are dealt by the worldthe transitsis what transforms us and shapes the direction of our destiny.”

How does your chart respond to transits?
Transit interpretation is typically somewhat similar to progression interpretation. However, transits typically focus on changes in a person’s external circumstances, whereas progressions tend to focus on changes in a person’s internal psychological state.
The most crucial thing to keep in mind about transits is that their significance is always determined by the natal chart’s pattern. Therefore, a favorable or easy aspect between transiting Jupiter and the natal sun will not result in the same expected benefit, for instance, if the sun and Jupiter are in a difficult aspect in the natal chart. Additionally, transiting aspects won’t often have the same impact on planets if they are not aspected in the natal chart. In other words, a person’s natal chart pattern follows them throughout their entire lifetimes, and the planets’ advanced and transiting motions show when that potential will have chances to manifest.
Because the personal planets move so fast through the zodiac, such as the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, their transits are typically not given much weight. The slower-moving planets’ transitsJupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Plutoare stronger and more pronounced, particularly when they strike a person’s planet or a cardinal point.
Why do transits happen?
According to Tripp, transits typically happen when a planet crosses your “natal planets,” or the positions of the planets in your birth chart. Let’s imagine, for illustration, that when you were born, Venus was in Capricorn.
The significance of planet transits
The transit technique has been used to find the majority of known exoplanets. When a planet passes in front of an observer and a star, it is said to be transiting. When Venus or Mercury pass in front of Earth and the Sun, transits inside our solar system can be seen from the planet.
Transits identify extrasolar planets by dimming their star’s light as the planet passes in front of it, rather than by directly observing them from a great distance away. Light curve graphs that display the amount of light received over time illustrate this dimming. The brightness of the light curve will decrease as the exoplanet approaches the star.
This information contributes to the usefulness of transits. Exoplanet properties can be determined by transits in a number of different ways. The time it takes the exoplanet to complete one orbit (the period) can be used to determine the size of the planet’s orbit, and the brightness of the star can be used to determine the size of the planet itself.
During a transit, we can discover more about an exoplanet’s atmosphere. Some light will pass through its atmosphere as it travels, and this light can be examined to ascertain what specific atmospheric components caused its unique dispersion. The ability to sustain life depends on the makeup of the atmosphere. Orbital size and stellar temperature can also demonstrate habitability. These assist in determining the planet’s overall temperature, letting us know if the planet’s surface is habitable or inhospitable to life.
What does a birth chart’s connecting lines mean?
Okay, we’ve arrived! It’s finally time to solve the enigma surrounding astrological aspectsa moment that many of you have been waiting for. Many people have a solid understanding of the astrological signs, planets, and even houses, but they are unsure of the significance of and the meaning of the aspects in a birth chart.
A chart’s aspects are the angular connections that the planets make with one another and with other chart points like the Ascendant. Aspects are the way the planets interact in our birth charts; they can reveal a person’s characteristics in a way that a sign or house position alone cannot. As a result, they play a crucial role in understanding a chart.
Returning to the early Astro DIY analogy, we can consider the aspects as the conversation the players (the planets) are having with one another. The kind of component reveals the nature of their discourse and the tone they are adopting.
Reading aspects in the chart
You must memorize the angle or the distance in signs between each one in order to understand an aspect (for example, a square is three signs apart). Knowing your stuff inside and out might be helpful before diving into particulars. Ideally, you will be able to memorize the polarities (water and earth are harmonious, fire and air are harmonious), the elements and modes for each sign (for example, Taurus is Fixed Earth), as well as the signs that are opposite one another in the zodiac (eg. Aries and Libra). Being aware of this will make it simpler to identify an aspect; for instance, you’ll know that trines are always formed by planets in the same element, making them much easier to seek for.
Orbs
An orb is a circle with a radius of up to 10 around a planet’s position in astrology. The amount by which the two planets can depart from the precise number of degrees of the aspect and still be regarded as having an aspect effect is known as the permissible orb.
Once you’ve finished reading, return to this chart and try to identify one of each of the key components.
What transits are crucial?
Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto transits, which can span months or even years, are the most important transits for making future plans.
Transits of Jupiter and Saturn can also be highly significant, but as they only occur for a few weeks at a time, they are more helpful for planning (or avoiding) specific actions in the future.
Unless you’re looking for very specific timing of activity, like an open cart, it is more effective to look at which houses Venus, Mars, and Mercury are currently transiting over rather than the aspects they are making to the natal chart. Venus, Mars, and Mercury move quite quickly around our chart and only transit our natal planets for a few days.
However, if you tried to keep track of all of your Venus, Mars, and Mercury transits annually, you would go insane!
Finally, because the moon and sun move so quickly, it is not very useful to think about transits involving them because they only last for a few hours or days. However, it is useful to think about which area of our charts the moon and sun are bringing energy to each day, week, and month, and I teach students how to do this in my program Your Soulful Year.
I will individually examine the area of my horoscope that the sun is bringing life and energy to each month, as well as the area that each new and full moon activates.
How is a transit to be read?
- Track down the eyepiece. The crosshairs can be focused by turning this.
- The leveling vial is located over the level’s range.
- The focusing knob is located at the end of the scope.
- The circular ruler marked with degrees that is used to read horizontal angles is known as the horizontal graduated circle.
- Just above the horizontal graded circle is the horizontal tangent knob, which is used to make left- and right-hand adjustments.
- On the near side of the scope, to the right, is a vertical tangent knob that can be turned to adjust up and down.
- The knob that locks the vertical direction in place is just past.
- Just below the horizontal graduated circle are the leveling screws. To maintain the object level, these can be modified.
- A detachable sunshade is available on some levels to shield the lens from sunlight.
What distinguishes transits and aspects from one another?
Both words are commonly used in astrology. They both have something to do with planets. What on earth is the distinction between a “aspect” and a “transit” then?
It will be crucial to understand the distinction when you receive your Essential Birth Chart report.
Let’s discuss about transits first. Consider the word “transit”: It’s similar to travel. It involves motion. Transit specifically means “to pass across or through a place,” and in astrology, that is exactly what it entails. A transit occurs when a planet moves from one zodiac sign to the next or passes through a particular sign. It is transiting that planet. Transits include Venus passing through Leo and Saturn changing from Libra to Scorpio. It involves motion.
Aspects don’t involve motion. Aspects relate to how one planet interacts with another planet. The angle formed between two planets in the zodiac circle’s 360 degrees is known as an aspect. For instance, if two planets are 180 degrees apart and on the exact opposite sides of the zodiac, they are producing a “opposition,” which is a 180-degree aspect. The energies of the two planets can either cooperate or compete depending on the aspect, bringing harmony or stress.
When a transit is indicated, a planet and a zodiac sign are specified, such as Uranus in Aries or Jupiter entering Cancer. When you hear about an aspect, two planets will be mentioned: Venus opposing Mars and Uranus square Pluto.
There you have it, then! Transits include motion, the passage of one planet through the zodiac. Aspects are about angles and how two planets interact with one another.
How does astrology interpret an empty house?
Every house has a ruler, just like every sign of the zodiac does. For instance, if Sagittarius is rising in your chart, Sagittarius will automatically rule your first house of self. Rising sign is the first house. It doesn’t necessarily indicate that you lack self-awareness if that house is empty. Simply said, an empty first house indicates that you should turn to the ruler, in this case Jupiter in the case of a Sagittarius rising. Let’s imagine that in a chart with a Sagittarius rising, Jupiter is located in the fourth house. This would link the first house of self-related issues to the fourth house of home, family, and personal affairs. You should also look at the sign that Jupiter occupies in the fourth house if you want a thorough knowledge of the first house’s ruler.
The first house functions similarly to the others; each has a ruler. I advise using conventional planetary ruler-ships rather than more recent planets like Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus when looking for a house’s ruler because they rarely change signs. To comprehend their meanings, for instance, utilize Mars for your Scorpio-ruled house, Saturn for your Aquarius-ruled house, and Jupiter for your Pisces-ruled house. You might meet a lover through your career or just have romantic and professional affairs intertwined in some way if you find that your seventh house of relationships and partnerships is in your 10th house of career and public image. This method of interpreting house rulers makes it simple to comprehend how astrology and life are interconnected. In most cases, the issues of life are interconnected, and the houses function similarly.
