How can I find out who my Ishta Devata is?
The Atmakarakain Navamsa in our birth charts can easily reveal information about one’s Ishta Devata. In our kundli, the Atmakaraka is the planet with the highest degree. The Navamsa, on the other hand, is the ninth division of our birthchart, which represents Dharma and is thus referred to as the Dharma-amsa. The Karakamsa is the Atmakaraka in one’s Navamsa, and the twelfth house or sign from it corresponds to our Ishta Devata. The planets positioned in this house define our chosen deity; however, if this house is empty, the significator is the Lord of the House. Every planet is associated with a deity who must be worshipped.
How can I locate my ancestor’s deity?
Please read my post God Has a Name and Form, Yes and No for an explanation, as going into this topic will take us away from the current discussion.
The Elders do not always inform the youngsters of the Family Deity, which is something that should not happen.
If this fails, look for your ancestors’ names on your Father’s(for men only) side for at least three generations.
It is customary in the family to name the first kid after the Family Deity.
Check if a feminine name is provided for a guy if the Family Deity is a female and the eldest of the family is a male, as in Kamakshi (and for Female the reverse).
Otherwise, keep the current Deity (of which you are unsure) and add Subramanya as an additional Family Deity if you are a Saivaite, and Lord Balaji of Tirupati if you are a Vaishnavaite.
If you are honest in your search, you will learn the Deity’s name from unexpected sources.
His Holiness Abhinava Vidyathhertha Swamigal of Sringeri Mutt taught me the Vedas.
Among other things, he taught me the Pancha Suktas (Purusha Sukta,Narayana Sukta, Vishnu Sukta, Sri Sukta, and Durga Sukta), as well as Sri Rudram and Chamakam.
Despite learning from the Great Man, I used to be playful in a lot of ways, and I still am in a lot of ways.
Instead of attending to Pooja, I inquired as to what my niece had prepared for the day.
She replied that she had prepared my favorite meals, but that I would have to wait until the Naivedyam (Nivedan) was done before eating them.
He said he didn’t understand what he said and asked me to confirm what I said.
He stopped for a bit before asking if I was reciting the Sri Rudram.
Fool((Goddess Lalitha claims to be giving you everything, while you recite Rudra, her husband. You adore her.
(The strange thing is that I never had a copy of it at home; this copy was discovered in my workplace, where such books have no placeI was the organization’s International Sales Manager.)
Evening, I received a copy of Lalitha Sahasranamam as a compliment from a friend who did not believe in Mantras.
Soundarya Lahari, Shyama Dandakam, and a deluge arrived in the following days.
All of this is provided for free.
When I first saw the Abirami Idol, I was overjoyed and thought I was seeing The Mother of All.
Then, whenever I feel like seeing her, I’ll just get in any mode of transportation and head to Tirukkadavur, no planning required.
I go there for the joy I experience when I see Her, and I never ask Her for anything in return.
I am more than happy to be Superstitious and a Fool if it offers me happiness.

What is the significance of Kula Deivam?
The Kuladeivam-s are so powerful that they encircle the entire clan and defend it. Nothing is thought to be possible without the blessing of a Kuladeivam. Even our Ishta Deivam and Gurus are powerless to help us. As a result, it is imperative that you visit our Kuladeivam at least once a year to seek blessings.
In Hinduism, how many Kula are there?
Gotra simply means “cow corral” or “herd of cows” in Rigvedic terminology. The meaning “family, lineage kin” (as in “herd within an enclosure”) is a more late addition, dating from around the mid-1st millennium BCE (e.g., Chandogya Upanishad).
As they arose among the Brahmins of the time, these “lineages” denoted patrilineal descent. Other societies, such as the Kshatriyas and Vaishyas, later embraced the Brahmanic system.
By nature or vocation, all members of a specific gotra are thought to share certain qualities. To explain this system, many theories have been proposed. The Brahmins are direct descendants of seven sages who are thought to be Brahma’s sons, born out of his mind through yogic prowess, according to Vedic traditions. Shandilya is number one, Gautama Maharishi is number two, Bharadvaja is number three, Vishvamitra is number four, Jamadagni is number five, Vasishta is number six, Kashyapa is number seven, and Atri is number eight. Agastya is occasionally added to this list. All 108 gotras (particularly those of the Brahmins) have descended from these eight sages, known as gotrakarins. The Atreya and Gavisthiras gotras, for example, arose from Atri.
Many Hindu gotras are totemic in nature, according to Robert Vane Russell, and are named after plants, animals, and natural objects. These are common among non-Aryans and tribes, although they can also be found in Hindu castes. The most common totem names are those of animals, including several that Hindus regard as sacred, such as bagh or Nahar, the tiger; bachas, the calf; murkuria, the peacock; kachhua or limit, the tortoise; nagas, the cobra; has, the elephant; brains, the buffalo; richaria, the bear; Kuliha, the Jackal; Kurara, the dog; kursaal Numerous trees, as well as rice and other crops, salt, sandalwood, cucumber, pepper, and some domestic utensils such as pestle and rolling slab, are used as clan names. Bharadvaja means lark, and Kaushika means descended from Kusha, Agastya from Agassi flower, Kashyapa from kachhap a tortoise, and Taittiri from titer, partridge. Other rishis’ origins are also related to animals: Rishyasringa to an antelope, Mandavya to a frog, and Kanada to an owl, for example. The members of a clan who practice totemism consider themselves related to or descended from the animals or trees from which the clan gets its name, and refrain from killing or eating them.
A kula and a gotra must be distinguished. A kula corresponds to a specific family, or to modern-day “clans.” A kula refers to a family or caste.
