What are the North Node and South Node?

The two spots in the sky where the Moon’s orbit crosses the Ecliptic are known as the North Node and the South Node.

Geocentric astrology is used. This implies that the Earth is at the heart of the human experience even if we are aware that the Sun does not orbit the planet. Earth serves as both the center of the birth chart and our frame of reference.

The Sun and the planets do not revolve around the Earth at random. Instead, a circle is drawn in the skies by their apparent route as they pass above us. The Ecliptic is the name given to the disk-shaped region of the sky where the Sun and planets are located.

The Ecliptic and the Moon’s orbit of the Earth are not identical. You could see them as two enormous hula hoops held at an angle, one inside the other. The two points where the Moon’s orbit crosses the Ecliptic are known as the Lunar Nodes.

The Moon crosses the ecliptic at the North Node (ascending node) as it moves toward the north and at the South Node (descending node) as it moves toward the south. In the sky, the North Node and the South Node are perpetually in opposition to one another.

The North and South Nodes of the Moon almost always move retrograde, or backward through the zodiac. Every 18 years, they go around the 12 signs once in their entirety.

Eclipses occur when the North and South Nodes of the Moon are in close proximity to the New and Full Moons. The Sun casts a shadow as a result of the Earth, Sun, and Moon being perfectly aligned. When there is a solar eclipse, the Earth is covered by the Moon’s shadow. The Moon is covered by the Earth’s shadow during a lunar eclipse.

What does it mean when your Nodes are retrograde?

Nothing. Nearly always retrograde are the North and South Nodes. In fact, if you apply the True Node computation, they can only be direct (not retrograde). They are only direct in this situation a few days each month.

When the nodes are in retrograde, what does that mean?

ICYWW, a planet is said to be “retrograde” if Earth is orbiting it and it looks to be travelling backward from our perspective. All of the planets go through retrograde motion, but Mercury is the most prevalent and feared because of his numerous three- to four-yearly retrogrades, which frequently result in what Kavanagh refers to as “Mercury mischief.” “Every year, the larger, outer celestial bodiesincluding Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto, and Chironmove backward for a significant amount of timetypically four to five months. Every alternate year, closer to Earth orbiting planets Venus and Mars go into retrograde.” She continues, “The sun and moon never go backwards.”

When a planet goes retrograde, its energy is effectively partly blocked from the outside, making it harder for living forms to express themselves there. Ambi Kavanagh is an astrologer.

What does it signify if your natal chart has one or more retrograde planets? Consider it a karmic lesson you must learn in this lifetime. It’s not all terrible news, and the chart doesn’t seem particularly bad either, according to Kavanagh. “When a planet is retrograde, its energy is effectively partially blocked from the outside, making it harder for the life areas that fall under its purview to express themselves. The soul of the chart holder opted to take on physical form in order to receive more profound lessons about the aspects of life that particular planet rules.”

Does the North Node reverse direction?

PSA: There is going to occur a significant yet “underrated” astrological event: The Nodes of Destiny will switch signs on May 5. ICYDK, the North and South Nodes are two mathematical points in the sky that represent the relationship between the Sun, Moon, and Earth. They are also known as the Nodes of Fate, the Lunar Nodes, or, less dramatically, the North and South Nodes. According to astrology, the North Node stands for the traits we must cultivate in order to advance, while the South Node stands for the traits we are born withand those we might rely on excessively.

The Nodes shift signs and go backward once every one and a half years (yes, they’re “naturally retrograde”). When this occurs, they inform us of both the things we need to release and the areas of our lives that we need to work on over the ensuing 1.5 years. In essence, we are compelled by cosmic forces to abandon some beliefs and form new ones.

The Nodes of Destiny will move into Gemini and Sagittarius on May 5 and remain there until January 18 of 2022. The North Node, which represents the things we need to add to our lives, will be in Gemini, so we must concentrate on intellectual development, seek to enhance our communication skills, and let go of our fears. We will need to suppress the need to be “correct all the time and focus on the details,” according to the South Node, which is entering Sagittarius (rather than forgetting them when looking at the big picture). Because the Nodes interact, it’s crucial to take into account both of them. Instead of giving too much emphasis to the past or the future, try to balance them out.

Can the nodes move backwards?

The lunar nodes changed from being in Cancer and Capricorn to Gemini and Sagittarius, which is another significant change. The nodes of the moon typically move backwards, unlike the planets. So they follow their usual trajectory and go backward. For the past few years, we have had Cancer as the north node and Capricorn as the south node collectively, which has pushed us towards growth in the areas relating to femininity and feminine pursuits while releasing ideas of needing to work nonstop to move up the social ladder or giving work precedence over home life.

North Node in Gemini

Now that the north node is in Gemini, we are being urged to concentrate on the discussion between those with different viewpoints, asking questions, surrounding ourselves with people who can provide us with alternative viewpoints, and concentrating on group communication and increased collaboration generally.

For those who have Saturn in Sagittarius or even Saturn in Capricorn in their natal charts, this can feel like a push and pull because these generations have been raised with the dogmatic belief that “the way that I believe is the only way.”

The idea that there is only one path, one ultimate truth, and no room for alternative thoughts, viewpoints, or beliefs to coexist is being dispelled by the south node in Sagittarius.

Are the planets in retrograde strong?

What does it signify when a planet is in retrograde motion? Simply said, during a planet’s retrograde motion, it is during this time that it is closest to Earth. As a result, anytime a planet appears to be moving backward, it transits close to Earth.

When viewed from Earth, planets in retrograde motion appear to pause and move backward for a while. In fact, planets are always moving forward. It is not possible. Retrograde planets appear to be going backward because we on Earth pass the planet by, which is why it appears they are. When you try to pass another car on the highway, however, you see that even though they are moving forward, they seem to be slowing down and reversing. Similar to planetary retrogression, that effect. The main distinction is that, in this example, cars follow a straight course while planets travel in a circle.

Chesta BalaMotional Strength

Are the planets in retrograde strong? The fact that retrograde planets are closest to Earth during the retrograde period gives them great strength. Therefore, during that time, the heavenly body has the greatest impact over us. As enormous celestial bodies, planets have an impact on us both physically and metaphysically. Astrology is used to explain the metaphysical component.

What does retrograde mean in astrology? In astrology, planets have a greater weight and are therefore capable of producing effects that are more powerful. A retrograde planet technically has additional power points known as Chesta Bala, or points of being close to the earth, in terms of Shadbala, or planetary strength level. As a result, we have unequivocal evidence that the retrograde planet is significantly more potent as a result of raising the Shadbala score.

Chesta Bala is one of the six strengths that make up the overall Shadbala score on the planet’s Shadbala scale. Chesta refers to the force necessary for the movement of the planet in this context. In other words, this strength is defined as how much physical effort the planet expends, which also strengthens its astrological impacts.

As a result, whenever a planet goes retrograde, it needs to exert more power or effort to continue moving, which gives it Chesta Bala.

A similarity between True Node and North Node

According to Rachel Lang, an intuitive astrologer and healer, your north node represents your real north or your North Star, living up to its name. “It is the direction of destiny that you stay on throughout your life. You feel more content and more meaningful when you concentrate on taking the path indicated by the north node, although it’s not always simple. The boundary of your comfort zone is this “she claims.

At the time of your birth, the moon’s orbit crossed the northern ecliptic hemisphere at this node in the sky. It’s unseen, unlike other astrological points, but Lang maintains that doesn’t make it any less important. As an illustration, the placement of my north node in Gemini, the third house, indicates that my “mission” in life is to teach, learn, write, and convey a particular message.

“You feel more satisfied and more purposeful when you concentrate on following the path indicated by the north node.” A perceptive astrologer, Rachel Lang

However, the journey to destiny must undoubtedly begin somewhere, and according to Lang, that is where your south node enters the picture. The south node, which is exactly 180 degrees from the north, stands for the starting point of your karmic path. Lang claims, “It’s the familiarwhere we came from.” Since my south node is in Saggitarius, I am said to have come from a restless, inquisitive, and frequently estranged place, according to the moon.

Right now, where is North Node?

The North Node of Destiny and the South Node of Destiny are currently in Taurus and Scorpio, respectively. This started on January 18, 2022, and will last until July 19, 2023, a total of 18 months.

By circling your True Node, or North Node, in your birth chart, you can discover your destiny. The South Node will always be in the True Node’s sign and degree. Use the interpretations below and mark them both in your chart.

A reverse nodal return is what?

There were some concerns regarding the natal Nodes after yesterday’s post on the transiting Nodes moving into Libra/Aries. What happens, specifically, if your North and South Nodes at birth are in Libra or Aries?

It’s important whenever the transiting nodes are conjunct (pass over) your natal nodes. This category includes two distinct types of transits:

1) The Nodal Return: Your natal NN is crossed by the transiting NN (and the transiting SN passes over your natal SN). You are prompted to follow your NN route while overcoming your SN tendencies by significant events or persons. Around the ages of 19, 38, 57, and 75, this transit happens (ages are approximate).

2) The Inverse (or Reverse) Nodal Return, in which the transiting NN and SN cross your natal NN and SN, respectively. By seeing your future potential directly manifest, you may put an end to old problems. In the present, the past and future collide. Around the ages of 9, 27, 46, 65, and 83, this occurs (ages are approximate).

Contrary to certain planetary transits, nodal transits are different. They don’t force you to change (like Pluto) or awaken you to reality (like Uranus). How well you are aware of your Nodal route will determine a lot (your potential). These transits may pass you by if you’re not fully aware of what you need to move away from and toward. Look at the ages I provided for both returns and recall any notable occurrences (and trends) that took place around those dates.
