It was a bright and sunny morning in downtown Los Angeles on August 11th. I was visiting from New York and stayed in town for a few days. I turned on the television in my hotel room to catch up on what was going on in LA and the rest of the world, as well as what people were saying and thinking, because I find news stations to provide intriguing overviews of local culture. The previous evening had seen a total solar eclipse, with the eclipse’s path of totality visible across much of Europe. Europeans clogged roadways to get to the finest vantage position to watch the last cosmic event of our century, according to news footage. Some close London friends had traveled to France to see the eclipse and called to say it was breathtaking. The male anchor chatted casually with his female co-anchor on this story, happily noting that he had heard that this eclipse heralded the formal start of the Age of Aquarius. His companion, on the other hand, was skeptical and disregarded her colleague’s suggestion with a snide remark, “Oh, that’s terrible. The Age of Aquarius began in the 1960s and lasted for decades.”
Nobody really knows when the Age of Aquarius began. The way this lovely blonde news reporter delivered her remark made it clear that she not only believed the Age of Aquarius began years ago, but also that it must be over by now. I let out a sigh. The majority of people are familiar with the term “Many people are familiar with the song “Age of Aquarius” from the 1960s musical Hair, but few are sure what it means. Astrologers have a hard time predicting when a person will reach a certain age – we’ll get to that in a minute. We do know that an astrological age is two thousand years long. Perhaps this newscaster shouldn’t have been so casual about seeing the birth of a new era. Most people will never get the opportunity to do so in their lifetime. It’s absolutely one-of-a-kind, and everybody alive right now is about to get a taste of it.
When astrologers talk about the Age of Aquarius, they’re referring to a phenomenon in which the earth moves backward (or inside) “into the sign of Aquarius (in a “retrograde” motion). There are 11 other zodiac signs, and the earth will retrograde in each of them. The earth will take 25,868 years to travel through all 12 signs. When you divide 25,868 by 12 signs, you get around 2,100 years to a certain year “I’m your age.” As a result, once the Age of Aquarius arrives (and many astrologers, including myself, believe we have arrived), it will last for two thousand years. ‘The’ “Hipparchus of Nicaea (c. 190c. 120 BC) was the first to discover the “precession of the zodiac,” which underpins this principle. The reason for this is due to a minor wobble in the earth’s rotation. The term “precession of the zodiac” refers to the constellation that appears behind the Sun at the vernal equinox and varies over time. Rather than negating the dates of the Sun signs, this precession gives each one a distinct personality. Classical astrologers, on the other hand, do not believe that the zodiac’s precession alters the inherent properties of the signs.
The Age of Pisces came before the Age of Aquarius. We have recently passed through the Age of Pisces, which spanned the years 1 to 2000 AD due to the earth’s retrograde motion. This period corresponds to the time of Christ and Christianity. Pisces is the zodiac’s final sign, a synthesis of all the signs that came before it, from Aries to Aquarius. The sign of Pisces is associated with universal love, compassion, self-sacrifice, selflessness, creativity, intuition, and deep spirituality. The reality of the cosmos is known by Pisces, but they don’t know why. It doesn’t matter, because Pisces are aware of this “The concept of “truth” is in constant movement. What is real in the human heart is true to the soul, according to Pisces. Pisces is a contemplative zodiac sign. Since the dawn of time, humanity has approached the world with a Piscean perspective, which has colored everything we have encountered during that time.
The fish (symbol of Pisces) was utilized by early Christians as a secret emblem of their faith. The emphasis on foot washing as a ritual symbolizing spiritual purity also connects into Pisces symbolism, as Pisces rules the feet. Pisces is a water sign “Often have aching feet because they “carry” the cares of others. Christ referred to himself as a servant to his sheep, which is also a Pisces concept. “I believe,” says Pisces, whereas Aquarius, our current age, replies, “Prove it to me scientifically.” Mary, Christ’s mother, embodied all of the virtues associated with Virgo’s Pisces polarity, notably modesty, service, and acceptance of what cannot be changed. Pisces has a great desire for solitude, therefore retreats, convents, cloisters, and spiritual pilgrimages are highly valued in Christianity. Aquarius emphasizes group activities and community, which is why we have the Internet and television, which serves as the global village’s eye. Aquarius is a sociable zodiac sign. Pisces is a water sign “I’m a psychic sponge.” Pisces enjoys social interactions as well, but they require regular alone time to wash away the stresses of everyday life.

What comes before the sign of Aquarius?
Did you know that the night sky has 88 constellations? Humans have cataloged and labeled them all over the period of thousands of years. However, only 12 are exceptionally well-known and continue to play a role in modern astrological systems. The zodiac signs are a set of 12 constellations that correlate to the various months of the year.
Starting with the vernal equinox one of the crossings of the ecliptic with the celestial equator each of these occupys a sector of the sky that makes up 30 of the ecliptic. Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces are the astrological signs in the following order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Here is a list of all the zodiac signs and their associated dates. Your zodiac sign is determined by your birthdate falling inside one of those dates.
Granted, current science has proven astrology to be an ancient fallacy, a method of correlating celestial motions to events and behaviors on Earth. However, given their lack of understanding of human psychology, astronomy, and the reality that Earth was not the center of the universe, such patterns were vital for ancient humans.
When did the Aquarian Age begin?
Astronomy has nothing to do with the Age of Aquarius. It’s an astrological age that happens due to precession, a natural motion of the Earth. The identify of the Pole Star changes throughout time due to precession. The precession cycle lasts 25,800 years. There are also 12 zodiac constellations. As a result, around the time of the vernal equinox, the sun’s position in front of the background stars moves in front of a new zodiacal constellation every 2,150 years. At that point, a new epoch might be considered to have begun.
The vernal equinox point, also known as the March or spring equinox point, is the position of the sun in the sky at the vernal equinox. When the vernal equinox point moves from in front of the constellation Pisces to in front of the constellation Aquarius, the Age of Aquarius is said to begin.
When that happens, there should be a definitive answer. At the time of the equinox, when will the sun be in front of Aquarius? When will the Aquarius Age begin?
However, there are no easy answers. The answer to this frequently asked question can be found in a variety of ways.
Age of Aquarius in astronomy
Let’s have a look at the answer from the standpoint of astronomy. The International Astronomical Union (or IAU) took on the task of officially naming and defining all things astronomical in the twentieth century. In 1930, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) established “official” constellation borders. As a result, astronomers tend to use IAU constellation borders to date the start of the Age of Aquarius. Astrologers and New Age practitioners, on the other hand, may or may not employ the same limits.
Jean Meeus, a well-known Belgian astronomer and mathematician, is one of the IAU’s adherents. In 68 B.C., the sun went from being in front of the constellation Aries to being in front of the constellation Pisces, according to his calculations. Looking ahead, the March equinox will pass into the constellation Aquarius in 2597, according to Meeus.
These are the astronomical dates, which are based on the IAU constellation limits, which were established in 1930.
The size of the constellations as defined by the IAU varies. Astrologers, on the other hand, frequently divide the zodiac into 12 equal sectors. So that’s one major distinction between astronomers and astrologers when it comes to constellations.
You must also examine when the Age of Pisces began in order to determine when the Age of Aquarius begins. There appears to be no solid agreement among astrologers as to when the Age of Pisces began. As a result, no one knows when the Age of Aquarius begins. Nicholas Campion suggests that the estimated dates for entering the Age of Aquarius span from 1447 A.D. to 3597 A.D. in his book The Book of World Horoscopes. Campion also looked at astrological sources for published material on the issue. He asserts that most authors believe the Age of Aquarius began in the twentieth century (29 claims). The twenty-fourth century comes in second (12 claims). Campion, by the way, is the director of the Sophia Centre at the University of Wales, Lampeter, as well as the Course Director for the M.A. in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. Here are Campion’s credentials.
Did it begin in 2012?
According to some astrologers, the Age of Aquarius began in 2012. This is because they believe the star Regulus in the constellation Leo the Lion marks the ancient boundary between Leo and Cancer constellations. In 2012, this star passed within 30 degrees of the September equinox, indicating that Regulus transitioned from the sign of Leo to the sign of Virgo. The border of the constellations Pisces and Aquarius is 150 degrees west of Regulus, or near the March equinox point, assuming equal-sized constellations in antiquity. According to this calendar, the Age of Aquarius began in 2012.
As you can see, many people have a clear grasp on how to compute the start of an age. However, there is no agreement among the numerous people who are performing the calculations. See what various authors have claimed in these Wikipedia lists.
To be clear, we at EarthSky approach the topic from an astronomical standpoint. Please show us more methods of calculating the Age of Aquarius if any qualified astrologers are willing to do so! We look forward to hearing from you.
By the way, Terry MacKinnell reacted to our request for comments by asserting that in ancient Babylon, a new zodiacal constellation appearing over the eastern horizon before sunrise on the morning of the Northern Hemisphere spring equinox signaled the beginning of a new era. >Definition of terms: Vernal equinox point
The vernal equinox, often known as the March or spring equinox, is a point on the imaginary celestial sphere that surrounds Earth. The celestial equator, or line around the sky just above Earth’s equator, intersects the ecliptic, or path of the sun across our sky. Because the sun used to be in front of the constellation Aries at the time of the vernal equinox, it’s also known as the First Point in Aries. The sun has been in front of the constellation Pisces at the time of the equinox for the past 2,000 years. The significance of the so-called Piscean Age is as follows. The sun will pass through Aquarius at some time during the equinox. The Age of Aquarius begins on that date.
How did the Age of Aquarius enter popular culture?
In the United States, the Age of Aquarius is connected with the hippies of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as the New Age movement. The arrival of the Aquarian age has been connected with… well, harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust aplenty in both situations. That brings us to the smash-hit musical from 1967 “The 5th Dimension’s Aquarius serves as the opening song for the film Hair. The first lines of the song were:
It’s difficult to put into words how I felt “Hair, which still appears daring now, had an impact on audiences when it premiered on Broadway in 1968. It went on to have 1,750 Broadway performances and 1,997 London performances, with parallel productions in locations around the United States and Europe, as well as supporting records (the original Broadway cast recording sold three million copies). This Broadway musical almost single-handedly launched the Aquarian Age notion into mainstream culture in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Although the video below isn’t the original, it gives you a good sense.
Bottom line: The Age of Aquarius begins when the March equinox point shifts from Pisces to Aquarius.
But there’s no way of knowing when it will happen.
Is it true that we are living in the Age of Aquarius?
The Age of Aquarius is now in full swing. For many, there was a noticeable shift in energy from 2020 to 2021, albeit both years were a roller coaster. Apart with navigating the Covid era, we’ve also been told that we’ve entered a new astrological phase.
What makes it unique? That’s where things get a bit tricky, but we’ve sought the expertise of psychic and astrologer Inbaal Honigman to help us figure it out. However, keep in mind that the Age of Aquarius is frequently linked to social action, equality, and advancement. Finally. Everything you need to know is right here…
When did the previous Aquarius Age begin?
The precise commencement date of this new epoch is debatable. Some astrologers believe it will begin on the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere on March 20, 2021, while others, like as Kelly, believe it will begin in December 2020. “She explains, “It’s more intellectual than you might assume.” “There is no clear agreement on when it will begin. What we do know is that this is a period associated with hope and creativity in general. When it happened last, in the 19th century, it was a time of technological, industrial, and government revolutions. All of these characteristics are Aquarian.”
Is it true that we are living in the Age of Pisces?
Astrologers agree that astrological ages last about 2000 years, and we’ve been in the age of Pisces for the past two millennia.
What is the Aquarius Age in 2022?
Make a note on your calendars: The Aquarius season runs from January 19 to February 18 in the year 2022. Jupiter will be in Pisces during this time, while Venus and Mercury’s retrograde periods will be over. This all happens just days before Pluto’s return to the United States in 2022, one of the most anticipated astrological events of the year.
Every 2150 years, what happens?
When does the Aquarius Age begin? And what is the Aquarius Age? Astronomy has nothing to do with the Age of Aquarius. It’s an astrological age that occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes, a true motion of the Earth that, for example, causes the identification of the pole star to change throughout time. The precession cycle lasts 25,800 years, and there are 12 Zodiac constellations. As a result, the sun’s location at the time of the March, or vernal, equinox shifts in front of a new Zodiac constellation every 2,150 years. When the March equinox point travels out of the constellation Pisces and into the constellation Aquarius, the Age of Aquarius starts. When is that going to happen? There is no one-size-fits-all solution. The answer to this frequently asked question can be found in a variety of ways.
Is it the Aquarius or Pisces Age?
The Age of Pisces has impacted human history for over 2000 years, and the Age of Aquarius is gradually taking its place. There is no clear agreement among astrologers on when the Age of Pisces began, and even less on when it will conclude. But one thing is certain: the transition between these two astrological epochs has already begun, and one of its most significant elements is the centuries-long conflict between science and religion that has shaped the evolution of human society.
The Age of Pisces marks a period in human history when people were more interested than ever in things of the soul. Human transcendence, self-dissolution, and connectedness to a greater ideal all crystallized in the communal consciousness and took diverse forms. The birth of Jesus Christ, the creation of the church, and the establishment of a single fundamental religion are just a few of the major events of this period that continue to influence human existence today.
The energy of Pisces offered forgiveness, empathy, innocence, love, and commitment to life. It established a belief in a higher power and a need to connect to something bigger than oneself. The concepts of good and evil, heaven and hell, sin and sacrifice reshaped spirituality in a completely new way.
However, Pisces represents more than just the struggle for ego dissolution and greater goals. The yearning for transcendence is masked by the search for freedom. In its worst manifestations, Pisces can lead to a loss of sense of reality, self-destruction, drug abuse, drunkenness, or any other escapism-focused addiction. Religious fanaticism and intolerance grew in popularity, and the concepts of guilt and suffering came to be associated with spirituality.
The Age of Aquarius represents a period of exploration, invention, and advancement. It symbolizes a desire for change and a desire for a brighter future. Aquarius, as the collective’s ruler, is associated with humanitarian principles, cooperation, and fraternity. It also governs the worlds of the individual and collective mind, information retrieval and dissemination, and the fight for personal and intellectual liberty.
For ages, the aquarian energy has been growing in strength, as evidenced by many events in human history, such as the French Revolution of 1789, which formalized the progressive values of freedom, brotherhood, and equality. The storming of the Bastille in 1789 represents the bursting of chains (represented by Pisces) and the revolt against the old authoritarian rule. It was also in the 16th century that the concept of atheism first appeared, and hostility to traditional religious structures grew stronger.
Simultaneously, science has progressed at a quicker rate each year, and has radically altered societal structures. Machines were made possible by technological advancements, the internet opened up a world of new possibilities for social connections, social media fundamentally changed the way humans interact, and globalization may be one of the most significant characteristics of this period.
Furthermore, communal thought and technological innovation are aiding in the struggle against social and economic inequality, and the fight for freedom of speech and identity has allowed for greater diversity and acceptance.
However, the fight for liberty comes at a cost. Disorder, rebellion, rule-breaking, skepticism, and the “change above everything” mentality are all aspects of the aquarian age. The contemporary rise of progressive thought has spawned a countercurrent of conservatism, bigotry, and religious fanaticism, and the fixation with technological innovation has had severe implications in our culture.
Finally, the shift from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius symbolizes a conflict between two opposing systems: development vs. tradition, mind vs. soul, or God vs. machine. But it also signifies the promise of connecting the spiritual to the communal, a time when the desire for transcendence and divine connection transcends barriers of identification, ethnicity, color, and social standing, allowing all mankind to experience the eternal global link.
Is the year 2021 a favorable one for Aquarius?
This year will be fruitful for Aquarians in terms of personal development. They will finally have the energy, physical power, and mental strength in 2021 to make new, better choices for themselves and their future.
