Changing toilet habits
Bowel motions may decrease as a dying person consumes less food and drinks. They may pass solid waste less frequently. They may also have less frequent urination.
They may not need to use the toilet if they stop eating and drinking fully.
These changes in a loved one can be upsetting to observe, but they are to be expected. Speak with the hospital about getting the person a catheter.
Weakening muscles
Individuals with weak muscles may be unable to perform modest actions that they were previously capable of. They may no longer be able to drink from a cup or turn over in bed.
If this occurs to a dying person, family members should assist them in lifting objects or turning over in bed.
