Taurus Armas is a diverse, international firm based in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and one of the world’s major small weapons producers. In 1941, the business created its first revolver. Bangor Punta, which owned Smith & Wesson, bought a controlling stake in Forjas Taurus in 1970. During the next seven years, the two companies shared a considerable deal of technology and methods.
Beretta was awarded a contract to manufacture small guns for the Brazilian Army in 1974. Beretta was compelled by the contract to develop a factory in Brazil and hire Brazilian workers. Beretta transferred the factory to Forjas Taurus after the contract expired in 1980. By that time, Forjas Taurus had been purchased from Bangor Punta in 1977 by new Brazilian controlling shareholders. Forjas Taurus now possessed all of Beretta’s assets, including blueprints, tooling, and machinery, and employed a highly skilled workforce. Taurus Armas reached another milestone in 1982. Taurus Holdings, Inc. was founded by Taurus Armas in Miami, Florida. Taurus Holdings subsequently established Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. At the time, the Taurus brand was unknown in the United States. In the coming years, this situation would drastically change.
Taurus Holdings made a statement in 1984 that had a huge impact on the entire business. Taurus Holdings was the first company to offer an unqualified LIFETIME REPAIR POLICY to its clients. This shifted the company’s trajectory in the US market. This policy was only recently matched. It’s never been surpassed. This novel policy caused everyone to take notice of the Taurus brand of weapons.
