Celestial Spirits (Seirei) are magical beings from the Celestial Spirit World, which exists in its own cosmos. Some Mages, known as Celestial Spirit Mages because of their speciality in Celestial Spirit Magic, can summon Spirits by using Celestial Spirit Gate Keys to open their Gates. Celestial Spirit Keys are measured in Units (instead of Gold or Silver), and a Celestial Spirit Mage is identified by the number of Units they have collected. Each of the Celestial Spirits is named after an astronomical constellation. Lucy Heartfilia owns ten of the twelve Gold Keys, while Yukino Agria, who also owns the key to the Zodiac’s “13th Gate,” owns the remaining two.
