How can I figure out what element my zodiac sign belongs to?
Triplicities were more of a seasonal nature in ancient astrology, therefore a season was given the attributes of an element, and the signs connected with that season were assigned to that element.
The following are the seasonal elements of ancient astrology:
- Spring is in the air (wet becoming hot) Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the air signs.
- Summer is my favorite season (hot becoming dry)
- Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are the fire signs.
- Autumn is a wonderful time of year (dry becoming cold)
- Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are all earth signs.
- Winter is here (cold becoming wet)
- Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are all water signs.
The changes in expression across indications of the same element are explained by using seasonal features. By their very nature, all fire signs are scorching and dry. The inclusion of the season’s elemental qualities, on the other hand, causes variances amongst the fire signs. Aries is a Spring sign that is wet (hot and dry, hot and dry), Leo is a midsummer sign that receives a double dosage of hot and dry and is the pure fire sign, and Sagittarius is an Autumnal sign that is colder (hot & dry, cold & dry).
Although these linkages are prevalent in current Western ceremonial magic, reconstructionist neopagan systems such as neodruidism, and Wicca, they are not given much weight in modern astrology.
The Elements
The zodiac signs are classified in a variety of ways in astrology. Fire, Earth, Air, and Water are the four elements in Western Astrology, and they are divided into three groups of three signs each (four times three equals twelve signs).
