New Year’s greetings! Today is the lunar New Year, and the start of the Chinese year of the ram (sheep/goat), as most of you are aware. If you’re wondering why there’s so much confusion over which animal the year is named after, it’s because of the translation. Any of the translations is correct because the Chinese sign might mean ram, sheep, or goat.

What I didn’t realize until I done some study is that you have four animals instead of just one. I couldn’t locate a converter for the day breakdown, but I did find one for the month and the hour.

The zodiac also represents the hours of the day, with each animal representing two hour periods out of a total of 24 hours.
(The times are in Beijing CST, which is reportedly difficult to adapt to other time zones.)
As an example. I was born in the year 1993, hence I am a Rooster. I was born in February, which makes me a tiger, and about 9:30 a.m., which makes me a snake (without adjustment to Greenwich mean time).
