Before I begin my Medusa story, I’d want to point out that Scorpio is a sign that values what lies beneath the surface. It isn’t interested with the first thing it sees. This is an energy that enjoys lifting the veil to see what’s on the other side. Nobody enjoys getting to the bottom of things more than a Scorpio, and I used it to learn more about Medusa.
I was fully enlightened once I started digging more into one of my favorite legendary heroes. I learned that Medusa’s message has nothing to do with becoming a monster at all. She’s a transforming symbol, similar to Scorpio, and one who transforms darkness into light.

Medusa is one of those characters that has been rather misunderstood.
She is best known for her snake-infested head and piercing eyes, which can turn anyone into stone. However, the truth is that she is much more than her awful faade. If we can simply look past her less appealing characteristics, we’ll see her exquisite beauty. Many people are unaware that she is a good luck symbol meant to ward off evil. Some of us may be carrying a memento of her around with us, which I’ll discuss in more detail later.
Ironically, she’s much more of a good omen than a grotesque monster.
Medusa, like Scorpio, is not only misunderstood but also a symbol of transformation. Allow me to explain the story, which, of course, has many different interpretations, in order to really grasp her opportunistic side. Of all, a story is a story, but this one is particularly good for getting to the bottom of all those snakes.
Medusa started out, not as a hideous snake laden monster, but rather a beautiful maiden with many admirers.
She turned heads and attracted the notice of a man named Perseus one day. Things ended tragically, as they often do when it comes to strong and insatiable attraction. Perseus’ yearning for Medusa overpowered his willpower, and he raped her in the temple of Athena.
The situation subsequently became even more obnoxious. After all, you can’t mess with a Goddess.
Perseus’ heinous crime embarrassed and outraged Athena (ruler of Venus, who represents beauty, love, and peace). She threw snakes to replace Medusa’s hair for all eternity as a punishment for man’s lustful ways. Any man who looked at her as she moved forward would turn to stone.
Note: Why the Goddess chastised the girl rather than the boy is a different narrative. It displays a side of Venus that not many people are aware of. (Venus retrogrades bring it out, which will happen in late 2018, but that’s a topic for another day!)
So Medusa remained concealed for a long time, yet she was seen enough times to cast her mythology.
To cut a long story short, Perseus eventually decided to chase down and kill Medusa. In the end, he triumphed and hacked off her snake-infested head in a spectacular display. What happened next, on the other hand, was somewhat unexpected. A magnificent metamorphosis or enchantment began to take place.
Just when we thought things were over they ended up taking a rather opportunistic turn.
The most gorgeous white-winged horse jumped out when Medusa’s head was removed. The magnificent creature put on a spectacular show of the most exquisite kind of magic. According to legend, Perseus rode his magical beast, the famous Pegasus, through several dynasties that he successfully vanquished.
Medusa’s head, which Perseus carried with him all the way, was considered to be the source of Perseus’s extraordinary success. In all of his conflicts, her hideous snake-headed head proved to be a tremendous good luck omen. According to legend, Medusa’s presence was vital in his successful run.
Medusa’s head would continue to be utilized as a potent good luck sign to ward off evil spirits as time passed. Soldiers’ breastplates will later be inscribed with her image as a form of protection during war. Her symbolism is being used today, most notably by Versace, a well-known Italian designer.
The myth of Medusa is a story of transformation from maiden to monster to magical protector.
And it puts Scorpio’s essence to life like no other. A major change of energy is occurring as Jupiter, the sign of abundance and good fortune, enters the sign of Scorpio. Many of us are seeing an increasing possibility to connect with transformative energy. On the surface, things may appear grim, much like Medusa. However, if we begin to look past our snakes, we may be able to spot an opportunity that is going to present itself.
