On the one hand, receiving this letter, especially in an unrelenting block of big neon text and shouting caps, was a genuinely disturbing experience. Water, fire, air, and earth are the four elements that divide the 12 zodiac signs, and nearly all of this friend’s loved ones, including myself, aren’t earth signs at all. Beyond our particular psyches, Earth exists as something we can physically hold and be held inside. Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are the three earth signs, and they are known for being stable, grounded, and realistic.
