How To Determine Your Character’s Zodiac Sign Using Their Personality Traits (a.k.a. How to Use the Chart)
The Zodiac Signs & Character Traits Chart can be used in two different ways. Let us begin with…
Examine the features of each sign using the Chart to see if any of them immediately remind you of your characters. Is your protagonist vivacious, determined, and a little brazen? Maybe he’s a Leo. What about his sweetheart, who is compassionate, imaginative, and sensitive? She might be a nice fit for Pisces. Allow your intuition to lead you depending on the specific strengths and shortcomings of each character.
For example, after creating the Chart, I put it to the test with my characters from The Keeper’s Curse, my YA fantasy WIP. The sign for my protagonist, Eva, was one of the first to catch my eye. This young lady is a Taurus. When it comes to finishing projects and getting to the bottom of things, she’s trustworthy, practical, devoted to the people she cares about, and tenacious. She can be overprotective of her loved ones and obstinate at times. Eva’s aggressive side comes out when she’s furious or irritated, despite the fact that she’s more of an introvert. As a result, I chose May 1 as her birthday in the rest of the world.
Here are two more TKC characters whose astrological signs I immediately recognized:
- Libra = Gidion (September 28). Gidion is a natural diplomat, thus Libra was an obvious pick for him. He’s a leader who is fair-minded and idealistic, who wants the best for everyone and is always eager to hear what others have to say. He also enjoys being with people and is more liberal than most Fei in terms of beliefs (interracial marriage, women in positions of leadership, etc.).
- Keli is a Gemini sign (June 2). The main spy of the Council is a Gemini “a personality disorder His wit, versatility, and sense of adventure come in handy when he’s on the job. He quickly shifts to his fun, restless, witty other personality when he’s not on duty, a side he occasionally fails to turn to “at the appropriate time
Your characters’ zodiac signs will not all be instantly recognizable. In certain cases, you can match a character’s characteristics to each of the zodiac signs. It’s a little more time-consuming than Activity #1, but it’s just as effective. It’s also a good idea to have a blank sheet of paper on available for this practice.
The steps for Compare & Count are as follows:
- Pick one of your characters and make a list of her favorable and negative characteristics. Have a duplicate of this information ready for Step #2 if you already have it in a character profile.
- Write down the number of common features by comparing your character’s traits to one of the columns in the Zodiac Signs & Character Traits Chart.
- Step #2 should be repeated for each column in the Chart that represents a zodiac sign.
- Determine which zodiac sign has the most common characteristics. This zodiac sign is most likely the best match for your personality. Before you make a decision, study an online profile of this sign. (At the bottom of this piece, you’ll find links to websites about the zodiac signs.)
- If two zodiac signs share the same amount of similar features, study each sign’s web profile before selecting which is the better fit.
- It’s possible that your character was born on the cusp of two signs if two nearby signs (Aries and Taurus, Gemini and Cancer, etc.) share the same amount or close number of similar features. Here’s where you can learn more about cusp signs.
For a number of TKC characters, notably Aurek Kolsteg, I used Compare & Count. His
Cancer was found to be the most compatible zodiac sign. Since he’s a soldier and co-leader of his clan, this startled me. Cancerian characteristics include his protectiveness of friends and family, generosity, support for others’ passions, and preference for compassion over brutality. His strong work ethic, insecurity (particularly as a leader), and yearning for privacy are all present. And, since he doesn’t have many Gemini or Leo characteristics, it seemed sense to choose a birthdate that fell within his Cancer sign’s real range (July 8).
Let me offer you two more Compare & Count examples using TKC’s characters:
- Cusp of Leo-Virgo = Vandar (August 25). Because of his astrological sign, I assumed Vandar, the Council’s military planner, would be a Leo “The personality of a natural-born leader. Yes, he’s self-assured, truthful, and unwilling to compromise. He is, nevertheless, calm, rational, diligent, and critical of others, all of which are Virgo characteristics. Because he had an equal number of attributes for both signs, I chose a Virgo birthdate that was early in the spectrum, as he is more of an introvert.
- Cusp of Virgo-Libra = Doni (September 21). It was nearly impossible to pin down Doni’s sign using Instant Recognition. When I used Compare & Count, though, his greatest zodiac match was obvious. He’s industrious, caring, nurturing, and always puts others’ needs before of his own, much like a Virgo. And, like a Libra, he’s a perfectionist “a person who has a strong sense of justice, respect, and social duty. Because Doni is the Council’s top healer, all of this makes sense.
There’s No Such Thing as a Perfect Fit
No one is a perfect fit for their astrological sign. I recognize some characteristics of my Virgo zodiac sign in myself (detail-oriented, responsible, shy, worrywart), but not others. (For example, I dislike passing judgment on people and try to keep my perfectionism to myself!) You might believe the same thing about yourself and your zodiac sign.
Keep this in mind while you work with your characters in the previous tasks. You aren’t seeking for the “ideal fit.” You’re seeking for the most accurate, acceptable, or reflective sign that will assist you figure out what character’s birthday is. So, take a look at these worksheets and exercises. It’s possible that you’ll be startled by what you find.

What factors go into determining a person’s zodiac sign?
Early astronomers witnessed the Sun passing through the Zodiac signs in a year’s time, spending roughly a month in each. As a result, they determined that each constellation covers 30 degrees of the ecliptic.
However, due to a phenomenon known as precession, the positions of the constellations we see now have changed.
The zero point of the Zodiac used to designate the beginning day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. The vernal equinox happens when the ecliptic and celestial equator collide, according to astronomers.
The zero point existed in Aries around 600 BCE, and it was known as the “first point of Aries.” (See Figure 1). The constellation Aries covered the first 30 degrees of the ecliptic; Taurus covered the next 30 degrees; Gemini covered the next 60 degrees; and so on for all twelve constellations of the Zodiac.
The Earth wobbles around its axis in a 25,800-year cycle, which ancient astrologers were unaware of. The gravitational attraction of the Moon on Earth’s equatorial bulge causes this wobble, known as precession.
This wobble has led the junction point between the celestial equator and the ecliptic to migrate west along the ecliptic by 36 degrees, or nearly one-tenth of the way around, over the past two and a half millennia. This indicates that, in relation to the stars beyond, the signs have moved one-tenthor almost a month around the sky to the west.
For example, persons born between March 21 and April 19 are considered Aries. During much of that time, the Sun was no longer in the constellation of Aries. The Sun is actually in the constellation of Pisces from March 11 to April 18! (See Illustration 2) See also Figure 3, which depicts the equinox precession from 600 BCE to 2600 CE.
The dates when the Sun is truly within the astronomical constellations of the Zodiac, as defined by contemporary constellation borders and corrected for precession, are listed in the table below (these dates can vary a day from year to year).
When precession is taken into consideration, your zodiac sign will most likely be different. And if you were born between November 29 and December 17, your zodiac sign is one you’ve never heard of before: Ophiuchus! After Scorpius, the eliptic crosses across the constellation of Ophiuchus.

They will reap the benefits if they take the time to make the necessary modifications. When a Virgo invests in something, their astrological gene causes them to become fascinated with perfection.
This is how they end up with a high likelihood of being wealthy in their businesses or jobs. They are also very decisive and pragmatic, which helps them boost their chances.
SCORPIO 2 (October 23November 21)

While Arians aren’t known for their patience, they find methods to stay motivated when they’re pursuing their dreams. They may not be the kind to work ‘hard,’ but they do know how to work’smart,’ meaning they can find shortcuts to success.
And they are the indicators that you will most likely become wealthy and successful.
Let’s have a look at some of the variables that contributed to these signs being included on the list. To begin with, this list includes all of the signs that have an affinity for the earth element. Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo are the signs of the zodiac. Earth is associated with wealth and material possessions. It’s no surprise that the element that governs materialistic objects and wealth appears in this list of signs.
The other trend you’ll notice is that none of the signs come from the element of air. This is due to the fact that air is connected with communication and learning, but not with earning money or driving. You’ve probably heard the phrase “all talk and no action,” which is one of the reasons why there are no air signs on this list.
Scorpioa, the water sign, is possibly the most surprising selection on this list. Water signs aren’t related with qualities that lead to wealth. The same might be said for Aries, as fire signs are known for their impatience. However, Scorpio, Aries, and Leo have one thing in common: they all have a lot of drive and desire. With determination and desire, you can achieve your objectives and boost your chances of becoming wealthy. Even though you are a hard worker, you will not succeed until you have drive and enthusiasm.
